JATB presents Jim Tomlinson & Mark Crooks
8.30PM - 11.00PM
Jim Tomlinson, perhaps best known for his musical and personal partnership with singer, Stacey Kent, is acknowledged as one of the great musical directors and "cool" saxophonists of the modern era. His playing and arranging skills mark him out as one of the unique talents of his generation. Mark Crooks is equally a globally recognised modern giant of the saxophone who has been in demand on both sides of the Atlantic for many years. They met at the Guildhall School of Music in the early 1990s, where they discovered a mutual affinity for swinging, melodic tenor players, like Lester Young and Stan Getz. Together they combine to evoke the sounds of great tenor sax duos such as Al Cohn & Zoot Sims, Richie Kamuca & Bill Perkins. Brilliantly accompanied by a stellar rhythm section comprising John Pearce (piano), Jeremy Brown (bass) and Josh Morrison (drums), this promises to be a wonderful night of freewheeling, straight ahead jazz.
